At On The Floor® (OTF), our mission is to provide you with an exceptional experience, whether you’re taking part in one of our competitions, workshops, or events. We hope the information below will answer any questions you may have about our various events.

Competition Information

Where can I find the competition rules and regulations?

Our official competition rules and regulations can be found by visiting www.onthefloor.ca/rules-and-regulations.

Where are competitions located?

Competition locations vary – please visit www.onthefloor.ca/tour for a full and official list of our upcoming competitions.

How can I register for a competition in advance?

To register for a competition, simply login to your DanceBUG account by visiting www.onthefloor.ca/registration.

Do you accept independent entries?

Yes. Please contact us at dance@onthefloor.ca for further details.

What are your fees?

Fees are released to studio owners and competition directors only.

How can I get a refund?

We do not offer refunds. For further information, please contact your studio director.

How can I get a competition schedule before the weekend begins?

Please contact your studio director for any scheduling related information.

What should I do if I notice a mistake in the schedule?

If you notice a mistake on the schedule, please contact your studio director and have them email us at schedule@onthefloor.ca.

When do I need to arrive at the competition?

Your studio director will provide you with information about what time you should arrive at the competition. We ask that dancers are ready to perform at least one hour prior to their scheduled time, as we tend to run early.

As a studio director or teacher, how to I check in once I arrive at the venue?

All studio directors or representatives must register at the OTF check in table. There, you will receive your competition ID, specific dressing room assignment, a complimentary program, and other goodies!

Do you assign dressing room space?

Yes. Your studio director will provide you with this information.

Are there any prohibited props?

No form of liquid, gel, aerosol, or glitter that can affect the dancing surface may be used. Any kind of weapon (real or fake) is strictly prohibited. Props that could be unsafe or are over six feet tall must be approved.

Where can I bring my props upon arrival at the competition?

Please check with the Stage Manager, located backstage, when you arrive.

Is the competition free to watch?

Yes!

Am I allowed to take photos or videos at the event?

Taking photos and videos is prohibited while dancers are performing. You are, however, welcome to take photos and videos during the awards ceremonies.

Where can I watch the competition live stream?

Please visit www.onthefloor.ca/livestream or download the DanceBUG app to view our live stream.

How can I check if the competition is running on time?

You can check our livestream available at: www.onthefloor.ca/livestream

Will there be anywhere to purchase food in the venue during the competition?

At most venues, there will be a snack bar open. Otherwise, an OTF crew member assist you with locations of the closest available food vendors (pending COVID protocols)

What forms of payment do you accept at competitions?

We accept cash, debit, and credit cards for all merchandises purchases.

I have a question about my merchandise purchase. What should I do?

Does every performer receive an award?

Yes! Everyone who performs at an OTF competition receives an award.

How can I get my critiques from the judges?

All audio/video judges’ critiques will be sent to the studios.

I forgot to order performance videos and photos. How can I get them?

Please contact DRC Video Productions (DanceBUG)

Are videos and photos posted on the OTF website?

We post a random selection of photos from every event, at which a professional photographer is present.

Workshop Information

What type of workshops do you offer?

We currently offer a variety of exciting workshops – two of which being our Summer Intensive and Back 2 Basics workshops.

Where are workshops located, when do they take place, and how much do they cost?

Workshop locations, dates, and costs vary – please select the event your are interested in from the “Events” link on the main menu to learn more.

How can I register for a workshop?

Please select the event your are interested in from the “Events” link on the main menu. This will bring you to a page with additional information about that workshop, with a button near the bottom of the page allowing you to register directly on our website.

I’ve registered for a workshop. What should I bring?

Closer to the workshop, we will send you an email with everything you need to know about the event!
