A Different Kind of Dance Competition
At On The Floor® (OTF), our mission goes beyond competition and prizes. Our various events provide young dancers the opportunity to meet professional mentors and learn the importance of giving back.
Every OTF event includes a fundraising component. At each competition, studios can choose to have OTF make a donation to our chosen charity, SickKids, instead of receiving a trophy. We also accept donations to SickKids at all events. Our biggest fundraisers is our A Night for SickKids Gala.
Our highly-credited faculty includes choreographer Mitchell Jackson, Derek Piquette of Cirque Du Soleil and So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), Emmy Award-Winning choreographer Marguerite Derriks, SYTYCD’s Jaja Vaňková and Jim Nowakowski, Jaimie Goodwin of SYTYCD and Shaping Sound, stars of The Next Step Jordan Clark, Jennie Pappas, and Victoria Baldesarra, to name a few. Our young dancers work with our faculty members at our conventions and workshops. Winners of our competitions also get the chance to perform with these accomplished professionals at our annual A Night for SickKids Gala.
Money raised goes to the Child Life Department, who plans parties, games nights, an annual prom, and other fun events for the patients at the hospital. To date, we have grossed over $364,000 for the SickKids Child Life Department. Our founders, Mitchell Jackson and Lisa Hupé, are passionate about dance and making a difference for young people – both the dancers they work with and the patients at SickKids who are a constant source of inspiration.
